A timely reminder

Remember Wenger being quoted as planning his summer purchases 'early in the transfer window'? It was back in the end of May.

Technically, the transfer window isn't open yet, so if they were his words he can still be held to it...

Still, Carl Jenkinson is the only confirmed Arsenal signing this Silly season. The usual suspects are bandied about, though. The last few days the focus has been on Christopher Samba, last week Gervinho and the week before that Gary Cahill. Or the other way around, who can remember?

It seems like we're treated to a classic Arsenal transfer window. Weeks and months of repeated rumours ending up with haggling and tight purses. We all hoped that this Silly season would be different, but I've yet to see anything from the club to convince me that transfer policies at Arsenal have changed.

And the rumours about players you've never heard of - and not least, players you have heard of - are only around because their agents want other clubs' attentions. Be warned! They won't come!
