40 goals are too many to ship for a club wanting to win the Premier League. That's one of the conclusions Arsène Wenger has drawn from Proper Season. And in this Press Association piece, chief executive Ivan Gazidis joins in.
"Whatever happens, Arsène has identified the fact the defence has been an issue for us this year so it's not difficult to imagine that that's an area we're focused on in this transfer window," Gazidis has told the Arsenal's Supporters Trust.
"We're now coming to a period where the financial health of the club is secure. That does not mean we have unlimited resources but it does mean we have sufficient funds to invest."
Yeah, well I believe that signings will be made when new faces pose with the manager, dressed up in red and white, clutching a club scarf and with a squad number of their own on the Armoury wall. But not before.
BTW; Arseblog has an excellent report from the Q&A session with Gazidis.
