Expected exits

In today's press conference, manager Arsène Wenger confirmed that at least two players are set to leave Arsenal.

Johan Djourou is set to join Hannover 96 of the Bundesliga, probably on loan, but a permanent move has been mooted. In yesterday's edition of German tabloid Bild, the club confirms that a move can happen quickly. On Saturday, the squad leaves for Portugal and their winter break training camp, but that isn't necessarily an absolute deadline. Hannover 96 sits at 11th place in the German top division.

Meanwhile, Sébastien Squillaci is free to leave Arsenal when he wants. His contract expires at the end of the season, but if he finds another club in January, Arsenal will probably let him go for a small fee, if not for free. The former French international has played about ten minutes of league football in the last season and a half. Still, he's never rocked the boat and bad-mouthed club or manager in any way.

In an interview with the French regional paper Var-Matin, Squillaci says that the competition for places is hard, but that he trains hard and has a good relationship with Wenger. But, at 32, he wants to play for the last couple of seasons of his career. Preferably for a club on the French Riviera, bless him.

Wenger was also asked about Andrei Arshavin, recently linked with Reading and PSV Eindhoven, among other clubs. However, the manager had "no news" on any move for the former Russia captain.
