It's just like the old days. Or like it was a few years ago, anyway. Out of the blue, manager Arsène Wenger conjures up a teenage playmaker from another big club's youth setup. Thomas Eisfeld has been confirmed tonight as Arsenal's deadline day signing.
Wenger speaks of '... a player we have liked for some time. We’ve watched him closely this season, where he has excelled for [Borussia] Dortmund’s youth team.'
The rumour of the 19-year-old's arrival at Arsenal only started to filter out yesterday in the UK, as the Daily Mail's website quoted "reports in Germany". After 24 hours or so of various media outlets quoting each other, Arsenal confirmed the transfer on the official website tonight.
As previously stated: just like the old days.
At the same time, Arsenal have loaned out yet another teen prospect. Ryo Miyachi walks in Jack Wilshere's footsteps to Reebok Stadium in Bolton, staying for the rest of this season. As Jack was a contributing factor to Bolton avoiding the drop that time around, there can be reasons for expectations this time around as well.
The expectations at Arsenal will be that Ryo gets plenty of Premier League playing time, but only after Bolton and Arsenal have played their league fixture tomorrow night.
