Labelling it "a transfer roundup" wouldn't cover half of it. The Daily Telegraph have today, in one single article, linked Arsenal with 11 players. In the same story, reporter Jeremy Wilson link two Arsenal players out of the club.
That's 13 moves suggested for one club, two days before the transfer deadline. Good luck with that.
Linked in are all the usual suspects. The two only remaining possible sales are worth extra mentions.
There are several reports about Armand Traoré leaving for QPR. Initially suggested to be a loan deal, the left-back now looks set to join permanently. At the same time, Arsenal doesn't seem to be able to shake Nicklas Bendtner. The Danish striker was adamant he wanted to leave, perhaps a bit miffed that the club and Arsène Wenger have shrugged their shoulders at the suggestion. There haven't been any takers, and shirt number 52 may still be his at Arsenal for the coming months.

A bit of a harsh assessment of the article - Wilson really debunks a number of those mooted moves, including Hazard, Gonzalez, M'Vila, and Arteta. Furthermore it seems fairly clear that only 1 of the 3 centre-backs would come in. There are a number of interesting details in the piece, notably the newly raised expectations of what Wenger is willing to bid for Cahill. Far from being silly, I would call that quite a sensible article!
ReplyDeleteOkay, let me qualify - considering we're less than 48 hours away from the closing of a transfer window with Arsene sitting on nearly 100m of cash and a squad that just lost 8-2 at United, I would call that quite a sensible article!
Thanks for comment, and fair points, but I still think the article covers rumours more than actual dealings. It's so easy to list all the names, and the comments attached aren't backed up with enough sources to my taste.
ReplyDeleteBut it's just as easy to just spoil the fun :-)
