Campbell for Arsenal

It's a delicious irony that an almost complete set of British football journalists get to ask Arsène Wenger all kinds of questions in two separate sessions this morning, still noone got anything on Joel Campbell. A few hours later, the Costa Rican striker is the newest Arsenal recruit.

Even if the move is subject to the paperwork of the Old World, this talent from Central America should join officially in a short time. His first season as an Arsenal player may well be spent elsewhere if he fails to qualify for a Britisk work permit at the first attempt.

What I think is the most fascinating with the transfer rumours concerning Campbell, is the fact that bloggers and fans got to know about the bid and negotiations before the press in Arsenal's own part of the world. The internet is there for fans to use, and Arsenal fans come from all over the world and speak every language. Reports on Costa Rican websites reach them faster than they reach newsdesks in London.

So congrats to Gunnerblog and his tipster Jamie Dalton, who were the first I know of to bring the story to our shores.
