Further to the theme of my blog entry yesterday, of journalists making comment by the wording of their reports, today gives us something as rare as a transcript of an interview! It's a way too rare sight to see, informative, thorough and without interpretations and showboating on the reporter's part.
The transcript of Arsène Wenger's interview in Kuala Lumpir isn't published in the Guardian itself, but on their Sport Blog pages on guardian.co.uk, penned by David Hytner. I recommend it!
One of the key points is also underlined in this item from arsenal.com.
"Imagine the worst situation - we lose Fabregas and Nasri - you cannot convince people you are ambitious after that.
“I believe for us it is important that the message we give out - for example you see about Fabregas leaving, Nasri leaving - if you give that message out you cannot pretend you are a big club."
This is what many Gooners have said throughout the summer. At the same time, it's the key to understanding Arsenal's transfer policy: developing the players we have are more important than signings, because even the best available players are never ready made for the team.
