Today's name is Phil Jones

A host of clubs are lining up to try and sign Blackburn's teenage talent Phil Jones. Arsenal are reported to be among his admirers.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Jones favours a move to Arsenal. At the same time, the Daily Mail suggests 'the player's camp [is] said to favour a move to Anfield'. In The Daily Mirror, Jones 'is believed to want to keep his options open as he weighs up his future'.

The fee Blackburn wants, in the papers that report that they are willing to sell at all, varies from £15m to £16m to a club record £18m (and no less than that).

The lesson is: even when several papers each publish their individual takes on a transfer rumour, they all depend on a source. Because let's face it, it looks like only one each. And what these sources tell different reporters tend to vary. But in a story like this, they are all likely to act on Jones' behalf

At least we can assume that Phil Jones is looking to leave, and that Arsenal are mentioned on his side of the table. But let's not assume anything further.
